CALEXICO — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a gang member Saturday afternoon.
arrest occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m., when Border Patrol agents on patrol
observed a man illegally enter the United States about
one-half mile east of the Calexico West Port of Entry.
Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro
Station for processing.
At the station, record checks identified the man as Kevin Josue Gomez-Escorcia, a 21-year-old Honduran national. Record checks also revealed that Gomez was formally removed from the United States by an Immigration Judge on January 27, 2017 in Florence, Arizona.
Gomez is a self-admitted MS13
gang member also known as Mara Salvatrucha gang.
Gomez is being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
All arrested individuals are presumed innocent pending
the outcome of legal proceedings.
