County Board Names Chairman, Vice Chairman and Health Dept. Director

IMPERIAL VALLEY — On Jan. 7 the Imperial County Board of Supervisors voted to name District 2 Supervisor Luis Plancarte to serve as board chairman for 2020 and District 3 Supervisor Michael W. Kelley as vice chairman.

“I am looking forward to leading our board and county into the new decade.  With many challenges and issues ahead of us, I am confident that in our county leadership and staff we have the resources to accomplish great things for Imperial County,” Plancarte said.  “As we move into 2020 and my new position as chairman, my goal is to honor our heritage while building the future of Imperial County.”

Plancarte has served District 2 since 2017. He is seeking re-election this year.

The board also announced the appointment of Janette Angulo as Imperial County Public Health director.  Angulo replaces Robin Hodgkin, who retired Jan. 2 after 29 years of service.

“Ms. Angulo has proven herself and her leadership abilities as she has represented the Public Health Department over the past several years,” Plancarte said. “I look forward to working closely with her to address health issues that impact our county.”

Angulo has served the Public Health Department since 2003 where she began her career with Imperial County as an administrative analyst.  After working her way through the ranks, she last served as deputy director of Community Health.

“I am grateful for all that the Lord has granted me up to this point, for the support and love of my family, and for the trust that has been placed in me over the years by the County of Imperial to serve my beloved community,” Angulo said.
