No Court Dates Yet For Calexico Council Member Hernandez

No new information has emerged and apparently no initial court dates have been set for two misdemeanor cases pending against Calexico City Council Member Rosie Arreola Fernandez.

The state Attorney General’s office has the two cases against Fernandez under consideration for prosecution. They are a July 6 driving-under-the-influence arrest by the California Highway Patrol and a May 5 property-damage hit-and-run case in which she was cited by Calexico police.

Neither case has been given an initial court date, according to the Imperial County Superior Court calendar through Oct. 1. The state prosecutor’s office has previously reported it does not comment on cases under review.

The Imperial County District Attorney’s office had previously declared a conflict of interest because of work Fernandez did on D.A. Gilbert Otero’s 2018 re-election campaign.
